Keto Orange Chicken

Ingredients:

Chicken:

Orange Chicken Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup sweetener (I used this one: https://amzn.to/3gSvggA) **PLEASE NOTE: If you are using monkfruit, erythritol, or confectioners, HALF the sweetener first, taste it and then adjust to your liking**

  • 4 tbsp white vinegar

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • ¼ - 1/2 tsp sesame oil (if you love sesame oil, use 1/2!)

  • ¼ cup water

  • ¼ tsp ground ginger

  • ½ tsp garlic or 2 garlic cloves

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes

  • 1 tsp orange zest

  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum (https://amzn.to/33Hbpgl)

  • For frying:

    • 1/2 cup avocado oil (we are shallow frying so we will NOT be using all of this)

Directions:

  1. Cut your chicken in bite sized pieces.

  2. Let’s start by breading your chicken. In a large bowl, add your “flour” mixture consisting of protein powder, salt, pepper and ground ginger. In a separate bowl, whisk 2 eggs. You will be

  3. Bread your chicken by dipping it in egg first, then the protein powder mixture. Do this for all your chicken pieces.

  4. In another bowl, get your sauce together. Add all items in your sauce. Make sure your xanthan gum is as dissolved as possible.

  5. It’s fry time! Fill your frying pan with avocado oil. You’ll know it’s ready when you put a wooden spoon in and see bubbles forming.

  6. Fry your chicken pieces (about 3-4 mins on each side) until crispy. Line a plate with a paper towel and remove your chicken once done.

  7. In a separate pan, add your sauce. It should start thickening up. After a minute of cooking, add the chicken and coat it with your sauce.

  8. Garnish with green onion and enjoy!
